Excel Password Recovery

Excel is one of most used application of MS Office. Typically organizations and individuals use it either as a database manager or as for the purpose of financial analysis, thus the data stored in Excel files is of utmost importance.  If you create a password that is required to open a workbook or gain access to its data, and then forget the password, you can't open the workbook, gain access to its data in another workbook through links, remove protection from the workbook, or recover data from the workbook. But the key question still remains: what happens if you lose the password or don’t remember the syntax of the password because the password is both case and character sensitive?

Like other password recovery software, Excel password recovery software uses either brute-force or dictionary attacks to find the right one. This method is good only for short and non-complex passwords. For example, the fastest program gives about 170,000 passwords/second on a Pentium III/800. However, a good Excel password recovery tool generally finds the password by checking millions of passwords per minute. Brute-force attack is the slowest approach and can test all the passwords of up to 7 characters.
